Flux7 Launches HPC Practices |  AWS partner names Qualcomm and TI veteran to run group

Flux7, a solution provider that has tied itself tightly with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to help organizations leverage the cloud with DevOps and Agile development, is now turning its attention to the high-performance computing (HPC) field.

The Lowdown:  The Austin, Texas-based company is launching a new consulting practice to enable enterprises to run their traditional HPC workloads, as well as emerging applications like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and data analytics in AWS environments. At the same time, Flux7 is tapping Derek Magill, a solutions architect at the company with experience in such places as Qualcomm and Texas Instruments, to run the new HPC practice.

Amazon Web Services Takes Aim At Microsoft With New Cloud Email Service

Amazon Web Services now wants to host your business email in the cloud.

Amazon WorkMail, a new service released in preview on Wednesday, offers secure, enterprise-grade email that’s compatible with Microsoft Outlook and other popular email clients. Users can choose encryption keys, select the location in which they want their data to reside and pay only for the mailboxes they create.


Service As Cloud Wars Heat Up

Ali Hussain, CTO of Flux7, a DevOps-focused solution provider and AWS partner based in Austin, Texas, told CRN via email that “larger volumes are a much-appreciated feature in the present world of growing data.”

Flux7 often has to setup multiple storage volumes for customers in a RAID configuration, which increases the complexity of the system as well as setup and maintenance costs.

Docker derailed? CoreOS’s rabble rousing might work

Right as Docker prepared to kick off DockerCon Europe 2014, CoreOS — creators of a Docker-powered variant of Linux — came out with a radical suggestion: Docker has problems, so try our container technology instead!
